Valentina Attolini

Valentina Attolini (b. 1998, Mexico) works with charcoal to investigate how experience takes shape through the body.

She approaches drawing and painting as a physical act in which memory is translated into sensation. Using her hands directly on the surface, she builds images through contact, accumulation, friction, and erasure. This tactile engagement creates an intimate encounter between body and material, allowing images to emerge through gesture rather than representation

Attolini’s paintings emerge from encounters between opposing forces—control and interruption, structure and collapse, restraint and excess. Rather than resolving these tensions, she sustains them within the image exploring instability, transformation, and the ways experience and meaning remain in motion.
